Suzanne Winckler is the compiler of the Rancho Ecologico Monte Mojino count. It occurs in gorgeous tropical decidious forest and pine oak habitats in the Sierra Madre outside of Alamos. She would love to share REMM and the environs of Alamos and the other count areas with more birders! Envariably people who come to Alamos fall in love with the area.
Here is a newsletter about the REMM project, properties acquired during the last 10 years encompassing some of the best extant tropical decidous forest in Mexico. There is much interesting conservation work occurring in Sonora, including Cuena los Ojos on the Border and the Northern Jaguar Project efforts in central Sonora, and REMM in the TDF -- and so few people in Arizona know about what's going on.
